Director

My name is Mike McCue. I am an Oblate of St. Francis de Sales, a Catholic priest, and director of DeSales Service Works since the summer of 2008.

I grew up in Northern Virginia, entered the Oblate formation process, studied English at Allentown College (now DeSales University), taught English at North Catholic in Philadelphia and Salesiaum in Wilmington, DE, studied theology at DeSales Hall and religious education at Catholic University, both in DC. I professed final vows in 1998 and was ordained a priest in 1990. For ten years I served as campus minister at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, VA. During that time I also assisted with campus ministry at George Washington University, across the Potomac River in DC. In 2000 I moved to Our Mother of Consolation Parish in Philadelphia for parish and hospital ministry. In 2006 I worked with Oblate novices in the Bronx. At the completion of that year, Holy Infant Parish in Durham, NC, welcomed me as pastor.

My family all lives in Northern VA. I enjoy reading, gardening, working out, and going out.

It has been great leading DSW, welcoming groups to experience working in Camden and sharing Salesian spirituality and gospel values with all the groups who come to serve. People often observed that those who serve get as much out of the experience as those who are served; I find that to be very true for myself. It is great to be a part of this positive Oblate enterprise of doing good works and learning from one another.
