Eucharistic Congress

The Catholic Diocese of Wilmington celebrated a Eucharistic Congress at the Ocean City Convention Center (Maryland) on Saturday, October 5, 2024.  The Congress keynote address was given by Bishop Richard Henning (Archbishop-elect of Boston), who gave an insightful presentation on the pivotal role of the Eucharist in Catholic life and worship.  The theme of the Congress was “the Eucharist as the source and summit of the Christian life.”

There were over 2,500 people in attendance with opportunities for social, prayer, adoration, confession, and breakout sessions tailored to various interests and age groups, including Youth and Young Adults, Faith and Family, Catechesis, and a dedicated track for Spanish-speaking attendees.  The sessions were designed to foster discussion and deepen understanding of the faith across diverse groups. The day culminated in a beautiful celebration of Mass with Bishop William Koenig, the priests of the diocese, and thousands of attendees.

Fr. Ed and his parishioners (three buses attended from St. Margaret of Scotland and the Iron Hill Deanery).

Oblates Fr. Pat Kifolo and Fr. Paul Colloton greet attendees at the table for the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales in the Exhibit Hall.
