Pilgrimage to Annecy, France

St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, Newark, DE invites you to join a pilgrimage to the home of Oblate founders!


Overview:

July 7 to 13, 2025 - Arrive at Geneva International Airport on Monday, July 7, 2025. Pilgrims are responsible for their own flight arrangements to/ from Geneva. Ground transportation included to/from Annecy.

Pilgrimage Fee: $1,000 per person (double occupancy / private bath), also includes 14 meals

Itinerary:

Day 1- Monday, July 7

We will arrive at Geneva. A bus will pick us up and take us to Annecy where we will have accommodations at St. Michel School. There will be time to unpack, lunch, and an afternoon to explore the city of Annecy. We will gather in the school chapel for our welcome prayer service followed by dinner. Each evening after dinner, there will be a brief prayer service with time for small group discussion and a review of the day. After prayer and discussion, pilgrims have leisure time.

Day 2- Tuesday, July 8

We begin the day with breakfast at St. Michel. We travel by bus to the Chateau in Allinges for a Eucharistic Liturgy, a picnic lunch., and tour of the grounds. We then travel to the Chateau of DeSales and the Church of St. Maurice where St. Francis de Sales was baptized. We return later in the afternoon for rest/free time before dinner. After prayer and discussion, pilgrims have leisure time.

Day 3- Wednesday, July 9

We begin the day with breakfast at St. Michel. We will spend the day visiting sites in the city of Annecy. First, we will walk to the Basilica for a tour, Eucharistic Liturgy, and time to visit the museum and gift shop next to the Basilica. Pilgrims are free to have lunch on their own in the old city of Annecy. After lunch, we will gather in small groups for a Walking in the Footsteps of St. Francis de Sales tour through the old city (Gallery, Church of St. Francis de Sales, and the Cathedral of St. Peter). We return to St. Michel for rest and dinner. After prayer and discussion, pilgrims have leisure time.

Day 4- Thursday, July 10

We begin the day with breakfast at St. Michel. We will walk to Lake Annecy for a boat ride to St. Germain, which is a beautiful pilgrimage site visited often by St. Francis de Sales. We will hike from the lake to the hermitage site. A bus is offered for those not capable of doing the hike. A Eucharistic Liturgy will be celebrated once we have arrived and taken in the sites. We will have a picnic lunch then a bus ride back to St. Michel. There will be free time after we return to St. Michel. After prayer and discussion, pilgrims have leisure time.

Day 5- Friday, July 11

We begin the day with breakfast at St. Michel. We will travel by bus to Lyon after breakfast. We celebrate a Eucharistic Liturgy at Cathedral St. Jean-Baptiste. A bag lunch will be provided and free time for the group to visit sites. We will return to St. Michel and pilgrims are free to have dinner on their own. No dinner meal is provided by St. Michel.

Day 6- Saturday, July 12

Today is a day at leisure to enjoy the sites of Annecy. Breakfast will be provided. Pilgrims are on their own for lunch. We will gather for a closing Eucharistic Liturgy in the school chapel. This is the Vigil liturgy for Sunday since pilgrims will be travelling in the morning to go home. We will have a closing dinner celebration. Pilgrims will have leisure time after dinner.

Day 7- Sunday, July 13

We will have a light breakfast at St. Michel before departure. We will be transported to the airport by bus.
